Have you had good experiences with any of the guys there?

Specifically a parts guy or an assembler-type guy.

Some qualifications would be,

1. Speaks a little English. Not essential, but helpful.

2. Has a good range of stuff on-hand. I don't like the guys who get on the phone to other vendors as soon as you ask for something. That probably means you will have pay more as the middle guy will want his cut.

3. Will be sporting about any returns you might make.

It would be perfect if you actually remember his floor and shop-unit number.

I know Lemon's sticky is still up above but that must be a little out-of-date now.

Thanks in advance.

I almost always use, and send people to, EZ Guide. They've been in Yongsan since the Stone Age, at Sun-in Plaza (the triangular "White Building") and don't even bother asking for directions because rat-mazes don't come with directions. Go & wander around & ask & get annoyed & frustrated & cranky. You're sure to find it eventually.

The shop is often a noisy madhouse, especially on weekends. But that's Yongsan for you. No wait, that's Korea for you. No, that's East Asia for you. However, the whole electronics market crapland of go-go-dancing mini-skirted parking attendants was strangely quiet the last two times I was there. The shopowners were moping about the "crappy economy" -- not a sense one gets from other parts of the country or the newspapers, but they're certain of it. Times suck, they say.

The guy I usually deal with at EZ Guide is ???. (Damn screwy... no hangul anymore since the phpBB fix. Ryu Hui-Geun, that should be) He doesn't speak English as far as I know, but I've seen him be very pleasant & patient with expats who spoke basically no Korean. If you want an English OS, you won't get it there, though they should be able to set you up with Hangul versions of whatever you're after.
