Chosun University in Gwangju City.
1.6m, 30,000 ot.
8 hours/week, lots of ot available,
"most teachers make around 3.0m per month"
no housing, 200,000 allowance
no airfare
sounds pretty aweful to me.
not walk? run?? |

Sounds like a typical UNI....
Lets do the math ~36 classes per month... about 44,000 per class
OT rate is a little low... but if you like BIG KIDS instead of little ones...
2 OT classes per week puts you in the 2 mil/month range...
2 more per week = housing....
2 more = airfare
14 classes per week = same salary/benefits as a hakwon job at 30 classes per week... and you didn't mention holidays...
IF I liked big kids I WOULD look twice at that one. |

The hours and OT don't sound terrible. Make sure that the stated OT amt covers any and all classes. Also, the 3mil mentioned would mean that you are probably expected to do about 20 class hours per month, which is a bit high when you consider the extra time that most likely has to be invested in testing and grading. Ask if you are able to do less hours if you choose to do so. Ask what's expected of you in the other vacation months. Ask about health care and pension - if they're not offering any severance, they should at least have you enrolled in the private pension plan. 200,000's the lowest I've seen for housing...however, they may not move to 300 or 350...guess it depends on how badly you want that particular job. Sorry, don't know much about the university. |
