I have just received my E-2 visa, which was isssued May 18th 2006, and the experation is August 18th 2006. Is your visa only good for a three month period or is this a mistake? I arrive in Korea June 25th. Will I receive a visa that is for a longer period upon my arrival or is my ARC card all I will need.If someone could help with this it would be greatly appreciated!

the visa expiration date in your passport only refers to the period of validity for entrance into the country. Once here your ARC card will reflect the 1 year period of your E2 status.

Cheers

A visa is permission to enter, not permission to stay.

The date on your visa refers to your entry into the country. For the visa to be valid you MUST enter before the expiry date indicated. You will notice farther down that the Status of Sojoun will be E2 and the Period of Sojourn (time allowed in county is (or should be) 1Y.

The period of sojourn will begin with the entry stamp you receive when you go through passport control and be for 1 year.

I think this should be a sticky - this question keeps re-appearing.
