*****What you need for a USED PHONE****
There is no 200,000won key deposit.
35,000~100,000 won for the used phone. There are quite new ones, too.
30,000 won to register the phone. You only pay this at the beginning.
100,000 won for the phone bill. (Lasts for about 2~5 months)Normally 3 months.
Recharging the Phone:
Call me or e-mail me whenever you need to charge your phone.
You can find out how much you have left through the phone.
1,000/month for caller ID (Optional)
If you have a F4 visa, bring it. If not just come and I can use my Korean friend's ID. She's in the phone business.
It's 9~19 won per 10 seconds. (about 7000 won an hour)
* You pay for the phone bill in advance. It's the cheapest phone system in Korea. You save a lot of money in the end. |
How much do most people pay for an hour's worth for talking? |

It is a scam.
Reality:
Used phones - 30,000 - 100,000.
For a prepaid phone -
No deposit.
No registration fee
You must buy 30,000 won of time at initial hookup.
After that you can buy in 10,000 won increments as you need them from any phone shop in the country.
Visa is NOT necessary.
You can use your passport or your ARC as ID at hookup time. |

^ you don't need to buy 30,000won worth of time when you 1st set it up.
i put down 10,000won when i got mine; and when i came back last yr and had to re-do the paperwork, i again put down 10,000won... |

I concur with what other's have said. I have a prepaid phone as well and it helps me keep down the cost of my phone bill. I use it very rarely.
The downside is it's almost impossible to know when your money runs out. When it does, your phone is useless until you go down and put more money on it. |
