Does anyone know what the five ingredients are in the healthy five grain rice stuff? This is the stuff that turns a deep blue on cooking. I think, from the package, it's called yeong yang sik, or maybe o gog. The ingredients listed are chab sal, hyeon mi, keom jang sal, bo ri, & chal su su. Thanks. |

Yes, that is some pab that kicks ass, I love it!
I think "chal su su" is "millet." The little bitty seeds. Sort of like Quinoa from the health food stores back home, the millet gives the pob some fluffy texture.
I think the purple color of the pab is from a black rice grain that seems to be similar to what we call "wild rice" at home.
I have seen different things in the brown rice/grain mixture, some of them include kidney beans, for example. One of them has a seed I have never seen before, which is translated in the english ingredient list as "job's tears." What are job's tears? I don't know, but it does harmonize well with the other grains. |

Uh, I just looked up "job's tears" on wikipedia.org, which not only gave the botanical information but also the Korean name: yulmu (율무) |
