God, it's suddenly quiet outside of my window. I'm near a major -gu intersection. Guy has had his little Bongo truck stage thingy set up there for what sure the hell seems like the last two hours and he's just been tearing away into his super amp'd PA system about... I dunno. Clearly this guy hasn't been screaming for the last two hours about a pressing need for stronger local noise reduction laws. Or knowing Korea, maybe he is.
My friend is in China and all I can think is "wow, that's one thing she doesn't have to worry about there..." Oh marvelous one party dictatorship! (Although she does confirm Taiwan is similar to Korea, with the addition of using those go go girls that they use to open businesses here. She even notes they have those go go girls at funerals in Taiwan.)
I've been in Korea long enough to actually wonder why these guys don't go all day and long into the night with their amp'd election shouting. They're not above just tossing their little pamphlets all over the ground. I mean, what's noise pollution over tossing garbage onto sacred Korean soil?
(It's like triple threat these days. On top of the normal mega amp'd background noise of people announcing their selling stuff, we've got little vehicles racing around playing patriotic soccer music and all the election shouting.) |
