|
|
I'm thinking about buying a computer/printer setup that would allow me to work anywhere (eg., a rural location in Asia with no electricity). As far as I can figure out the following configuration might do the trick:
1. Solar panels to charge the computer (eg., one of those new laptop bags that have solar panels built in);
2. Laptop computer with a very large (12-hour battery);
3. Printer or printer/scanner/copier that can be powered from the laptop battery through the USB port.
What I am wondering is, is there such a thing available as a printer that gets its data from the conventional printer port in the back of the computer, and gets its electricity through a USB cable? Would anybody know if such an animal exists?
Thanks in advance,

I've never heard of a printer that gets its juice from the usb cable. If there was, it would be a serious drain on any battery.
I am not thinking that solar panels would provide much juice for a computer either. |
