So I had accepted a position at an after school program, signed the contract, rushed the passport and now after about 3 weeks of waiting they tell me that they don't need another teacher Mad ...
I was really looking forward to going and teaching and experiencing a new culture.
So does anyone have a heads up on any jobs (yes I will start checking the bords and posting my resume)
Does anyone know how long it will take before I can find something? I am an american but I am not white...
I'm looking to get out of here in about two weeks.

Thanks so much

i don't know of any places that are immediately hiring, but i would post my resume on daves, englishspectrum and worknplay every day. look through as many ads as you can, email recruiters and schools that are looking to hire directly. if you aren't too picky about location, im sure that you could find a position soon, even if you're not white.

that shit that everyone feeds you about non-whites not being able to find a job is bs. if a school doesn't want to hire you cuz you're not white, then they're not worht your time in the first place anyway.

just post your resume everywhere and look at some of the better recruiters (albeit, the recruiters i looked at were giving me pretty mediocre jobs). pm me if you want more info and good luck with your job search!

This has been my experience as well.

I have actually gotten quite a few offers recently.

Just have to be didligent, and dig a little to find what you want.

Thanks everyone, instead of being discouraged by it I've decided to try harder, maybe it just wasnt meant to be, the contract wasn't that great anyway - I'm sure the next job offer will pan out and be better than the last.
Very Happy

Talk to Mr. Kim at HiHaoedu, he'll find you a few jobs to choose from before the ink on your passport dries. He's unstoppable. E-mail addy is: [email protected]. Also, check WorknPlay.com...lots of good listings there. Mostly, if you can avoid using a recruiter you should. Now that you're here, you might as well study up on what look for in a contract and what to avoid, there's lots of good sources right on this board. Good luck.

for every two or three times a newbie plays recruiters off of each other, stringing them along until the last minute when a choice is made of one of several... there's a recruiter doing the same thing to us!

an unused insurance policy, the discarded option

welcome to the wild world of commodity speculation known as the esl hiring process
