I am a little confused at the moment. I thought there were lots of jobs in korea for ESL teaching. So far i've applied with six recruits. Three of which never even replied to my application. Also two of the recruiters offered me jobs straight after my initial application but those jobs were not exactly what i wanted. One had a bad split shift and the other was in a small city. But after I gratefully turned them down they haven't got back to me anymore. Whats the go eh?

Is now a bad time for jobs? Or do they just not like australians Sad

Is there possibly some horrible typo in your resume? Are you old, fat, and ugly like me (40+)? I doubt very much that they have a general dislike of Aussies. (After all, your English is almost as good as Canadian English Laughing )
I don't know how long it took to get the replies and offers that you did get, but considering that the next school semester starts at the beginning of September, I would be content to hold out for the right job for you...

Me too and the common denominator is unfortunately irreversible (with Ya-ta and myself anyway). But, I'm not really worried because when I'm actually ready to start back to work undoubtedly there will be a school that, as many do, put off getting a teacher until the last minute.

And there I'll be with all documents in hand ready to board a flight.

This is not to say, by any means, I will compromise on what I'm looking for--it just seems to be a viable strategy; it worked last time and I had never been to Asia before.

I'm over 50 and had no teaching experience (although I did take a CELTA this past spring). I was offered three positions within two weeks and recruiters kept inviting me to apply for others. I'm convinced that a well-written cover letter goes a long way in "selling" a mature teacher.

Although I have considerable experience as a writer, I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the job offers.

I got my public school position through Work and Play. Based on my experience, I would recommend them and I know they've placed other "mature" teachers.

I would be willing to provide input regarding resumes/cover letters (within reason) if anyone wants to send me a pm.
