Has anyone had experience getting a second job without a release letter? A friend's recruiter mentioned something about leaving the country twice to make this work. Any first hand experiences?

Or... can the labour board write something up or force a school to give a release letter? I have a mediation session planned in the very near future.

Thank you for any help/leads. And yes, I've already read several threads where the majority of people believe it's black and white, no release letter=no new visa. Some new information would be great.

You don't need a letter of release. I changed jobs a few months ago without one. Just get your boss to come with you to immigration and cancel the visa. It's tough, but it's the best way around it... and yes, if you can't find a new job within 14 days of doing that, you will have to leave the country twice. If you do find the job within 14 days you only need to leave once.

I strongly recommend having as much cash saved as possible and not telling your boss that you are planning to work at another place. Better to say you are planning to go home because you miss your family. Most likely the boss will come with you to immigration and do it just because it's going to be annoying not to have it all wrapped up. Good luck and PM me with any other questions you have.

what exactly are the differences/advantages of having your employer cancel your visa instead of just giving you a letter of release?
