Hi everyone,

I recently inherited a Daewoo DC-S78D1 vcr / dvd combo player that also plays avi files from a friend. It plays DVDs and VCDs ok, but so far it has been glitchy when it comes to playing AVI files. Some 30 min programs I've been able to watch all the way through, but the longer movies that I've tried to play have all stopped at some point. I can play the same files on my computer so I know it's not a bad disk.

Does anyone have any advice? By the way, my computer is a Mac G4 and I am burning to a Sony External Firewire burner.

thanks

There's the problem. Wink

No, I think it is a compression problem. What compression types does the player handle? ".avi" is really general. The stuff on the net is encoded with all kinds of codecs and compression techniques.

You may want to try re-encoding a couple of files to see if that is the problem. May be a trial-and-error thing, but it should get sorted that way.

Not sure...hope it helps.

it should have a specific codec that it can use. did you get a manual with it? that should be able to tell you. DivX are the most common that i've seen as far as external DVD players. actually i don't know that i've seen any others...
