Greetings,
I am considering returning to Korea late this summer. I have been doing some research into schools outside of Seoul this time. Does or has anyone on board worked for any of the Moonkang Academy locations?
Thanks ahead of time for any feedback.

Moonkang generally has a very good reputation here in Daegu. They have a lot of long term employees, a good deal of them are overweight, Canadian women. Despite the weight, the people there are friendly. I have some friends that work for them, and they are all happy.
You'll be working from 4 to 10:30 approx . Maybe less than that. 2.3mil. Prep work is minimal, the lessons are created ahead of time by Moonkang staff. Your managers will be foreign, most likely one of the above mentioned, portly, friendly Canadian women. Never any problems with money, severance, etc.. the chain is very profitable.
Housing is typical; one room bachelor style. I'd recommend Moonkang over about 90% of all other hakwons. |

Overall for a first year gig in Korea it's a good one. Moon Kang has its issues mostly dealing with cirriculum. However, as far as working conditions go I have absolutely no complaints. I'm treated well, paid on-time, and I don't ever deal with any of that "oh, you can't come in unpaid tomarrow - well, some parents have been complaining about you" type of hagwon b.s.
Most days you will only have to work 4-10. However, at least once or twice a week you will have to come in an hour early to get things done.
As far as the overweight Canadian women - that all has to do with head office drama, which is plentiful, and I don't get involved with. |

I know - that`s cool! I`m just so used to people making derogatory comments about weight, I tend to respond quickly. Sorry about that! |
Don't be sorry Andrew. It really was unnecessary for PECisDplace2B to write about the weight of the workers, but I'm sure he/she was just trying to be witty. They did give good info about the op's request though, at least. |
