Actually I think I already know - but lately my mind has been a bit rusty - so I just want to check on whether this is correct or incorrect...
anyway..
(1) I am finishing my current employment at my school on 2006-07-02....
(2) My school is giving me a release letter dated 2006-07-02
(I am unsure whether they will report it to immigration)
(3) I realise I have to leave the country within 14 days (2006-07-16)
(4) I have a non-changeable air-ticket to visit another country - the air-ticket is departing Incheon airport on 2006-07-29
(5) Immigration allows foreigners an extra 14 days PAST the date that they were SUPPOSED TO HAVE left the country without any penalties - so the very latest I can leave without any penalties is 2006-07-30
(6) I am leaving (for vacation) on 2006-07-29
Does this mean I will be safe (by 1 day) from receiving any penalties etc?
Please someone experienced in these technicalities explain to me that I will be safe... etc or that I will be penalised for overstaying my stay?? |

You are NOT safe, you will be in an overstay situation.
Take your airticket to immigration and get your status and exit date changed. They will look at your original airticket, ask you for a copy of that same airticket and amend the exit date on your ARC to match the date of your ticket. This will keep you out of trouble.
It is free.
It takes 10 minutes at the counter.
IF you are there early your waiting time will be less than 30 minutes.
To keep it simple:
Take your original airticket
Take a photocopy of your airticket
Take your passport
Take your ARC.
Perhaps your LOR to ensure that your previous visa is cancelled.
Go to immigration and request the change (extension of visa).
The reason for the extension is for "tourism."
