The Hurricanes will not quit: Rod just scored at 8:02 of the 3rd Period and the 'Canes lead the Sabres 3-2.
Brett Hedican, a member of the U.S.A. '92 Winter Olympics Team, has been an absolute standout for the Hurricanes. He's a very good skater, has a very good shot, and, when he turns it on, can play like a Phil Coffey. Damn straight!
By the way, Rod Brind A'Mour was drafted out of Tier 2 and has been a force since he arrived in the National Hockey League. What do the ice hockey fans on this board think of this very underrated player? Also, is he better than Chris Drury? If so, in what ways?
Thanks for your time, and have a great day, eh. ;)

Hedican is awesome on this killing of a Power Play... Christ, he's still on the ice when Buffalo later goes to the net and he takes them all down.
He's obviously a damn good guy on 'D.'
Good on ya,' Yank!
Edit: Justin Williams just scored giving the 'Canes a 4-2 lead. Yep, Hedican helped out but did not get an assist.

What a series, hockey fans! As the commentators just said, "What a gallant group of battlers." A hockey fan has to agree.
Cam Moore, from Sherwood Park, Alberta (the only "pro-American" province in Canada, they say), the goaltender for the 'Canes, received the Player of the Game award from O.T.N.. Heck, can even a tomwaitsforone not agree with this decision? We await Tom's nod-of-approval. ;)
Alright, Canadians, the 'Canes will go up to Edmonton where many, this delusional one included, pray that the Oilers bang 'em out.
Rock on, Oilers!
I am,
R

Who is Phil Coffey? Paul Coffey? He is not like Paul Coffey, but I agree that he is a good player. |

Paul Coffey?! Let us face it: He was the extremely classy skater that played defence for the Oilers when Gretzsky was considered the "best" player in the league (bang on, Coffey and Mark Messier were way, way better).
Mr. Coffey had immense puck-handling skills, could skate like nobody's business, and made his Major Junior team, the Cornwall Royals, at least as good as an A.H.L. team. Dig it, he, as a sixteen year old, did things with the puck that even pros in their twenties could not do. When he entered the N.H.L., it was no surprise that this Canadian Wonderkind made all ice hockey fans all over the World think that he was, and is, in our collective memory, one of the top five players in the history of the game.
The only U.S.-born-and-trained guys (outside of the goalies like Barrasso, Brimsbeck, Vanviesbrouck, Richter) who have made a Canuck think that the player in question is any good are: Tony Amonte; Neal Broten; Chris Chelios; Chris Drury; the Hatcher Brothers from Michigan; Keith Ktachuk; Pat LaFontaine; Rod Langway; Michael Milbury; Michael Modano; Mark Johnson; Jeremy Roenick; and a handful of others who played for our National Teams -e.g., the Christian Brothers and the Cleary Brothers. |
