I was wondering if anyone has taken a dive vacation to Polynesia, Micronesia etc. I've been looking around and have been having some serious difficulties.
I've was hoping for Palau but I don't know if its affordable.
Any sugestions for a good dive trip at a reasonable price ( < 1,000,000 for air and hotel). |

I'm still hoping to make it to Palau and Yap one day...
Meanwhile, I can say that I found my dive vacation to Guam to be both reasonable and rewarding.
Just stay way from the main strip.
No big pelagics to be seen, but at the same time some great wreck diving, reef formations, nudibranchs, etc.
I dove with a smaller outfit, Professional Sports Divers; Smaller, faster boats meant we got to the better dive sites and best mooring buoys well before the big cattlecar boats arrived and unloaded all their hoardes of noisy beginners and snorkellers into the water.
A PSD boat:

Have you been to the Andaman sea (W Coast of Thailand and Malaysia) yet? That's also very good and reasonable. |

I have heard that the Philippines has some great dives; both coral and wreck. Also, very affordable.
I have done all my diving in Thailand. The Phuket - Phi Phi areas seems to be the best for coral. Koh-Samu - Koh Tau has some great dives, espcially Sall Rock. Pattaya-Jomtien is so so, about 5 WWII wrecks there. But they have some great schools for additional certifications. |
