Sh*t its hot today! However, my classroom is lovely, its only when I step outside that I feel like I'm heading into an inferno... Its friday afternoon, I'm all finished and I actually don't to leave... |

Ah, the air con if only list...
--If only the subway had the a/c on consistently
--If only the a/c reached the front of my classroom
--If only the office staff would pump the a/c before I arrive, having walked up a hill from the depths of the subway (ditto taxi drivers in whatever situation)
--If only my students could stand the cool and not complain incessantly
Yup, summer's here. I've got my spare undershirts, and taxi fare, ready. |

Yeah, Summer's introduced itself with a BAM! today, but it is much worse in August and September. It's 30c in Seoul today. I try to walk to and from school every day (takes 35 minutes) but in Summer it won't be easy. Will have to take a spare shirt every day I think. I'm not a smelly person because I wear deordorant but if your shirt is literally soaked because you walked to school in 34c humidity it's not very nice. |

Yep, Spin, that's a big reason why I bought a scooter. I get to school in a breezy fashion. If I walk, my body is so heated up by the time I get here that I sweat even worse once I get inside.
Oh, I was informed by the boss that we aren't to use the a/c in our classrooms. He said if he goes over 5,000 kw of power each month, he has to pay an additional 1,000,000 won. Fabulous.

I used to walk very long distances to & from work. An hour of walking each way at one time, because oxcarts just weren't my thing.
But not in summer. There was one guy I worked with, however, who walked in any kind of weather but rain or snow. The back of his suit jacket would be sopping by the time he came in. He'd hang it up to dry. A suit jacket, mind you. Dark colours. Well, he didn't have it cleaned all that often, and sometimes, after it had dried, you could see this ring of fine while salt crystals that had formed all around the edges of the back. (urp) |

Hot is the case here in the southwestern part of the country.
It reached 32 here today, no AC in the classrooms but the teachers room has AC and I only teach 3 classes usually four at the most.
My apartment is a one room style so the AC is effective in mere minutes after arrival. Thankfully I demanded AC in my apartment, but I learnt the hard way, first contract no AC that was a killer.
If tomorrow is the same it will be off to the beach a mere 5 km away with hammock, book and cooler with beer in toe. |

Who cares? Fans are useless. More annoying than accomplishing anything useful. Tell him to get bent. I do consider the power bill and I will turn it off from time to time, but we're getting close to the "leave it on" season. The noise is annoying though. Harder to hear the students.
I think your boss is pulling your leg. |

Nah, he's not pulling my leg. A few weeks ago I had some major suspicions about some things, which all turned out to be wrong. He said something about the whole building being allowed a certain wattage, and that he worked the deal in favor of the neighboring businesses. The guy who worked here before me has said repeatedly that the director is a bad businessman.
Today, though, we did use the a/c. A couple rooms don't have fans. yet. Problem with the a/c units here, though, is that their located right next to some students, and blow the air almost straight down, so that the kids nearest it are freezing and everyone else is still warm. A fan pointed directly at me would be preferable. |

Both fans and air cons make noise though making it hard to hear the kids. Kind of annoying, but necessary. Maybe I listened to too much rock music too loud when I was younger. And that blasted walkman and that one Rolling Stones concert. That ear-ringing thing can't be good.
I used my air con at my apartment in Taiwan as my ear plugs because I mostly worked in the early evenings. One of those big ass, loud as hell, old air cons. Taiwanese/Chinese people are noisy. Noisier than here. More fun though. |

The best way for men to keep their shirt from getting soaked is to always remember to wear an undershirt for absorbancy. Some baby powder down the front of your boxers will leave you a bit more comfortable too. |

Even in winter, I guess. I need to get some baby powder. Kimchi and red pepper paste comes out the pores and worse in the under regions. All of the under regions.
Flossing's good too.
*beep* undershirts. |
