I've not read the novel upon which this film is based, so I can't make a comparison between the two, but the film stands on its own merit. The first half had me in stiches; and while the final acts are at times trite, and never reconcile with the humor of the first half, it's a great movie. In parts a road trip film, a fish out of water story (there are a few moments which anyone who has lived in Korea for 5 minutes will easily relate to), a buddy picture and memoir, this is a film I look forward to watching again soon.

It's a premier movie.

PS - the guy who played Alex the younger was robbed of a Best Actor in a Supporting Role nomination.
