Well, I had a blast going in an voting, and seeing the surprised faces of Koreans. But they were all nice and accepting and very friendly where I went to vote. Glad to see that the GNP looks to be headed for a HUGE win.
Patchy, is it time for you to leave? Werent you the one who said that those who dont agree with the majority of Koreans should get out? Well the majority has spoken and kicked your beloved Uri in the gonads, preferring the GNP, a party you loathe. So, time to be a man and follow your own advice? |

Today was a clear message. Last I saw, GNP won 13 positions while Uri won 2.
I guess they're sick and tired of 노무식 and the way he fucked the economy here, as well as Dokdo, and North Korea relations.
I am not pro-GNP, but I am for anything but Uri. |

I'm not too up on the Korean political scene but my wife reported that, basically, the (Korean-style) conservatives won in a landslide all over Korea.
Anyone confirm that?
GNP are the right-wingers? |

| The main opposition Grand National Party won Wednesdays nationwide local elections by a landslide, almost certainly sweeping at least 11 of 16 large city mayor and provincial governor seats except for the Jeolla provinces. Ballots counted as of midnight on Wednesday and exit polls conducted by the three major TV networks show the GNP certain to put up the mayors of Seoul and Incheon and the governor of Gyeonggi Province. The ruling Uri Party took only North Jeolla Province and was left flailing in the wake of the minor opposition Millennium Democratic Party in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province. |
If you live in Gyeonggi-do, Kim Moon-soo is now your mayor.

He won his first election in April 1996... in the National Assembly as a member of the conservative GNP. |
What's up with that? If you can't beat 'em join 'em? I'd sure as hell never side with someone I'd accused of torturing me. |

Maybe he opened his eyes and saw the reality of his youthful stupidity? He sounds like a solid guy, good thing he won.
But where oh where is Patchy? Did he pack up and leave Korea? |

Perhaps you mean he is the governor-elect??
A "Mayor" is the leader of a town or city, a governor is head of the province or state.
The last time I looked Gyeonggi-do was a province. |

I didn't vote, but I campaigned a little bit.
A friend of mine was a local candidate.
I took a few of his campaign cards and put one in each of the Korean teachers' class folders.
He won! |

Oh, dear. Right. I did remember correctly in class and taught my students about mayor, governor, and ~-elect. |
