I recently bought a new region free dvd player from home. The problem is when I plug it into a tv the dvd menu and dvd playback is black and white and shaking all the time (virtually unviewable). Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Is the DVD player faulty or is it related to the plug (brand new). If anyone knows anything please let me know.

I had a similar problem after buying a player here and setting it to multi-region. It could just be that your set-up needs to be changed.
This is what I did:
>Select "system set-up" on DVD player.
>Select "Video Set-up" >select "TV type">>set to 'NTSC'.

This is probably what you need to do. Korean TV's are set to NTSC color format. Some countries (like UK) use the PAL color format. If your DVD player came from a PAL country then you have to change it to NTSC as described above.

If you can't read the menu then I'm not sure what you could do. Try it on a different TV? I played my PAL camcorder once on an NTSC TV and it was B&W but watchable.

Ok, I think the problem is that it is in New Zealand it uses Pal or something like that. I will check it out.

Just for the record (if anyone has the same problem and does a search for help)
If you have a digital camera, try and get a photo of the screen that will enable you to read the menu options and navigate that way. I tried - it took a while, but it was possible. Unfortunately the DVD player had not "set to NTSC" option that I could find.

Just a thought.
