Has anyone ever used the City Air Terminal in COEX?. I just moved to Samsung dong and was thinking about giving it a try for my next trip. Only thing I worry about is getting a re-entry stamp there. Is there a immigration office there where I can get it taken care of? Anyones general comments about the what CAT process would be really helpful.

Thanks,
JB

Yes, it is extremely useful if you are in a location to take advantage of it. You can clear customs there and if you're on a KAL or Asiana flight you can check your bags there. You also used to be able to get a discount on departure tax when you bought a bus ticket to the airport there (maybe you still can).

Foreigners haven't paid the departure tax since 2002.... They dropped it for the world cup and left it off for us.

Koreans still pay it though. Maybe foreigners with an F1,2,4 series pay the tax as well... I don't know...

A, B, C, D, E, G and F3s for sure do not pay the departure tax and do not have to fill in a departure card anymore either.

We still have to pay the departure tax, they just put it into your ticket now instead of manually doing it...

It doesn't matter what country or what visa you are on, you always have to fill out a departyre card in every and any country i have ever been to(which is 24 and counting Smile )

You can do your check-in there is you are on a kal/asiana flight. Which can save a lot of time.

There's an immigration office that will give out re-entry visas upstairs next to where you buy your bus tickets. If I were you, I would get it sorted out before hand if you live close by.You can also clear customs there and basically get waved through at incheon.

The bus there goes straight to the airport.

So yeah if you are close by then use it.

Nope.... Foreigners are EXEMPT from the departure tax in Korea.

I bought a package tour and was given the tax receipt just like my Korean co-tour friend and when I went to the departure zone (where you show your boarding pass and passport to get into the security check) I was told to go to the counter on the back wall next to the currency exchange and get a refund for the departure tax (man won).

AND as of Jan. 2006 we (foreigners in Korea) NO LONGER have to fill in a departure card when leaving Korea. We do still have to fill in an entry card when we return however.
