I was doing a search on google.com looking for more websites that are offering ESL jobs in korea (no offense dave) and found this site at the top of my search:
http://www.teachkoreanz.com/terms/immigrat.htm#f4
It applies to me as I am an OAK (overseas adopted korean), and I was wondering 1) Has anyone else gotten this visa? 2) If so, what documents are required? It gives the address for a/the (?) Seoul Immigration office, but would there be a similar location in Pusan (where I am)? Any info/advice/news regarding this visa would be appreciated as I am having difficulties gaining employment here. A friend of mine has mentioned that gathering some privates amongst the university crowd would not be too difficult, which would help alleviate some of the financial stresses I'm bound to experience in the not-too-distant-unemployed-future. ^ ^;;
Also, apologies if this thread has been posted elsewhere already, but I did try a search for "F 4" and using "visa" just brings up seemingly half of the posts here..
Thanks in advance,
SE

Try sending an email to the dude who runs this blog:

He's an adoptee and I believe he's on a F-4. Good luck. |

cheem-
Thanks for the link. This website is simply high-larious. It made me really want to move to Seoul instead of being here in now extremely wet Pusan. One of his posts did discuss all that was needed for the F-4 visa, exactly the kind of info I needed. Thanks again cheem.
For all others who want to get a few laughs from another's crazy time here in korea, check out the above URL.

Hey there,
When I got my F4 it was very simple - all I had to do was prove that one of my parents is/was Korean (my birth certificate + parent's marriage certificate), and then a copy of my Korean grandpop's family register, which I was able to get at a local dongsamuseo right next to the Immigration Office in Seoul. 2 hours and I was out of there visa in hand.
Obviously, in your case this may will be be a problem (I don't know what kind of documentation your adoptive parents were given at the time) but not something that can't be solved. How much detailed info about your birth parents do you know? I strongly suggest coming to Seoul and paying the Immigration Office a visit to find out what you need to do. They were VERY helpful in my case, which suprised me as I was expecting them to basically have that typical numb 'I'm a public servant so don't bother me' look.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you need any help. |

Seoultrader-
Thank you for your post. I am actually trying to get my hojuk deung bon from the adoption agency (Holt), which facilitated my adoption to Denmark. This is what Michael (the guy from lostinkorea.com) had done and it worked for him. Though if everything falls through (it shouldn't, it better not, but incase it does) I'm glad I have your suggestion to fall back upon. Again, thanks for your post. Also, do you know if these F-4 visas are renewable for another 2 years?

Yup, you can renew it every 2 years and it's only half the hassle the 2nd time around since you're already documented. No sweat. |
