What's the shortest contract you've known someone to sign for a hagwon? I usually hear of people getting 1-year contracts, but I'm in a bit of a difficult situation and am wondering if it's worth the effort trying to find someone (either here or abroad) for a shorter contract. Anyone heard of (intentionally) briefer terms of employment? |

My experience was that there always seemed to be loads of people posting on Dave's wondering where or how they could get a short contract.
But then, when my school was looking for someone for less than the one-year term, it was impossible to find anyone....it seemed to be the attitude of "why is your school not looking for a one year contract?" |

Immigration do give out "6 month" contracts - I have had one before - the school only needed me for four months - and I had a verbal contract with the school to ONLY work there for four months (because I was starting September 1st - but school finished the end of December)...
so for the paperwork - we put into Immigration - we just made it 6 months... no problems ((but it wasn't a Hagwon)... - but I know Immigration doesn't give out any less-than-6-month visas...
though winter and summer camps are usually only 4~6 weeks... I think you are already supposed to have a visa and just add your summer/winter camp job on as an additional visa.....
Hagwons usually want teachers for more than 6 months... especially if they had to pay a recruiter or your fees to go get your visa etc etc... makes sense that they only want to pay these fees once every 12 months not 6 months... however just depends on what kind of Hagwon....
Many Hagwons get new students around end of year exam time - doing so quick extra study for their exams - and the hagwons sometimes need additional short-term teachers to cover during this period...
why isn't this in the "Job discussion" forum? |

For camps you get a C-4 visa (or is it C-1...? Too lazy to go check my passport now...). |
