Great time to visit the city by the lake and eat the famous yummy duk-kalbi.

Performances travelling from over fourteen countries I'd heard.

Someone post a link!

Starts today and runs until next Sunday. Hoping to check it out next weekend.

At least you know the performances won't keep you awake at night if you're staying in the hotel next door.

Ha ha about the sound. I expect there to be music accompanying many activities and events, at least drums or the like. Will be a lot of noise of some sort I'm sure, even if blaring Korean pop on loudspeakers. Confused I'll pack my walkman just in case.

Tonight, you missed the opening ceremonies, big kickoff.

That's twice in this thread you've got your knickers in a twist over a user posting a jokey comment. I don't think they are insulting your beloved Mime Festival, just trying to raise a laugh. Laughing is good!

of course! guess you didn't realize my "you're a tool" was meant wittingly with a Wink as in, in a tool box... jacl will get it

as for the previous reply, i see how it might have been taken as heavy handed, but was more of a light scoffing... it's what i'd say... didn't think about it's impression online... tone and context often lost in this medium... and I was tipsy at the time so some self-directed irony was at play too

The festival typically ends fairly early in most locations. Some venues, away from housing and outdoors, run a bit longer. Jung-do island is a great venue, but for the last few years has suffered from lack of places to put people and still be able to see the performances.

The performers usually end up going to the back gate of Kangwon university, as that's where most of the late-night drinking/action takes place. Sometimes they stay in Kong-ji-chon (there is a large stage there with plenty of benches), the big park in Chuncheon and just hang out and talk. It's a pretty cool vibe, all in all.

Bring an umbrella (Chuncheon is a damp place), a plastic "blanket" to sit on and a warm fleece for the evenings. In the park, there is a cool inline skating oval and a small ramp park, if you are into that (and don't mind kids...lots of kids). Duck boats there as well, so you can peddle your way around the area in a silly looking boat, or row if you don't want to have fun. Wink

coolsage...you have been in Chucheon for a while now....you going to the festival?

and i wonder about cheap motel rooms... I assume that at least minbak are available... never had a problem ever getting a cheap room in Korea, but a big festival in a small city... one wonders

You should be able to find something. I think there is a room for every person living in Chuncheaon. Lots of hotels...

I would offer a space on the floor at my place, but my killer puppy....
