|
|
My employer telsl me that I have to go back to do a second health check because I didn't tell him when I received my ARC. Therefore, for some reason, I have to get my health check(HIV and such) done over again. Apparently some papers have to be filed after receiving your ARC(which he didn't file because I didn't let him know when I received it)?
What I don't understand is....I now have my ARC and my employer has already given me my National Health Insurance Service card/booklet....So what's the point of getting a new health check done? |

Really? Nobody knows why one would have to redo their health check?
From what I understand, we need it for our visa. I've got my visa...so any theories?
I'm going today to get it done for the second time. Not too happy about it. Especially because I have to pay for it! |

If you're asking for speculation, here goes:
In addition to your visa and ARC with Immigration, you are supposed to be legally registered with the local Education Office. You have two weeks from your first day of teaching to register - forget the 90 rule from Immi, you actually have only two weeks to get your ARC. Although different Education Offices deal with this requirement in different ways, your boss is required to provide them with copies of your ARC, background check and health check. If you register late there is a fine for your boss.
It may be that your boss intends to use your recently dated health check to register you as if you have just recently started teaching this job so as to avoid the penalty for being late or the penalty for being caught with an unregistered teacher.
Your CBC would have its own date, and if this isn't your first job in Korea, you have a previously issued ARC date, so the health check date could cover his butt.
Speculation. |

I appreciate the reply.
As I already have my ARC, I'm not sure how he could fool immi by sending them a newer health check....but perhaps you're right.
The whole thing makes no sense to me. |

My scenario has nothing to do with Immi. Your boss needs to file copies of your paperwork with the Education Office. If he hasn't yet done so, he's late. If he claims that you just started there in the last two weeks, he will use the new health check to make the paperwork look legit. The CBC has its own date, issued before coming to Korea, and if you've been in Korea previously your ARC would be older, so he would only need a new health check to make the timing look right.
Another possibility: It could be that your first health check had some problem or was missing something so Immi asked for a new one. This doesn't seem to fit your facts, however. |

yes. it is a requirement of the local office/ministry of education. If your boss is not an idiot, he/she will get a copy of your recent health check from immigration and all will be well. |

If the problem is, as it seems from the OP, a matter of filing late, the copy from Immigration wouldn't suit the boss's intent.
A teacher has only two weeks to register with the local Education Office, after which there is a fine for the school. The OP has been teaching for two months, so he's late. To avoid the fine, the school will try to claim that the teacher just started and the date on the new health check will help with the ruse. |
