HELP
Im stuck in Bangkok, I need to get out of here soon. I have accepted five contracts so far from agents and private schools in Busan. But all of them have let me down so far and have taken on other teachers at the last moment. It is all really frustrating. My visa runs out on the 16th and I want out of here. I have never tried to secure a job over the net before but Im finding difficult. I have all my documents transcripts so I can start work asap. I want to be in Busan anywhere around Haeundae, Kweangalli, Nam gu areas. Im three years experienced and qualified if anyone can help PLEASE

It sounds really rough that you've had as many as five contracts reversed. I can only guess that the places you applied for were so desperate for teachers, they weren't prepared to gamble on someone who was coming from overseas when they perhaps had teachers knocking on their doors in person. Even so, five times is unlucky.

I'm not giving you the addresses of any jobs directly, but I have a list of jobs sites with lots of jobs going in Korea right now. (See link below) Perhaps you'll strike it lucky with one of them.

I'd say just get a tourist visa (3-6 months depending on where you're from) and come on over. Once you're here, you can shop around. Some of the bigger chains won't balk at sending you on a visa run from Korea and picking up the tab. Best not to take some flip contract with a fly-by-night school and regret it later. You'll make up the money spent in no time if you are serious about working.

Ask around in advance for places there in Pusan to meet teachers, stay on a shoe string, and then network out from there. Best of luck.

yeah well thats what I've always done in the past. Get to the country then look for work. I had so many mixed messages about getting into Korea. Some people get in with no visa and just a one way ticket??? Then people say a one way is a big no no. I think Im gonna bite the bullet and just fly out there on a one way with a tourist visa and see what happens. I know Ill get the work ok. I've never tried to get a job over the net before it very frustrating.

The one-way thing being a big no-no depends usually on the airline. For instance, Air Canada is notorious for not allowing passengers to head to Korea on a one way without a visa, but then there are some ppl who have been lucky and AC has let them on. It's all going to depend on the airline you travel with.

Last time I flew Qatar and the check-in counter wasn't going to allow me on with a one-way, she didn't make a fuss but called her manager who came to the counter. I showed him my previous visas, explained that I had lived here for several years and I knew it wasn't a problem. He gave the go-ahead. It all depends on the agent and the airline.

I've been offered a good price ticket out of Thailand 11000B about $250ish. On air Eastern Air China and thats 45day return. So if I get the tourist visa I should be well covered to find work in that 5weeks.??? Does anyone know or has travelled with this airline??
Seems like a plan to me.

5 weeks should be plenty of time to get work. Did you mean 35 days?

By the way, not that it matters to you now, but I've entered Korea without a return ticket numerous times, every time in fact, and never had a problem. Maybe being Canadian helped me?

In Bangkok they offered me a return flight 45 days. I might just try the one way. Does being English help??

Yeahhhhsss
so I went to the Korean embassy today and coz Im English they tell me I dont need a visa. So I get 90 days on entry. I can get a refundable one way??? How do I do that?? The cheapest flight out of Bangok one way is with Eastern China airlines, aprx $200 Can I just ask for a refundable ticket ??

Ahhh now I can enjoy my last few days in Bangkok.
Thanks for your help everyone. Id like to know about the refundable ticket though. I do not have a visa so Ill be paying in cash.

First of all, how do I get a refundable, unrestricted one way??

And I have all my docs so can I gat an E2 without a number from a school. I mean can I get an E2 on my own??
