I recently posted that the Immigration office had changed their procedure for LOR's.
On Wednesday a teacher was refused a visa application because she did not have a letter from the Immi Office stating that the contract had finished, employment was over and she had 14 days to leave the country.
Frustrated we left the office and went to the Uijeongbu Office to get this letter. Her previous employer was in that juristiction.
We got the letter from there and everything was sweet.
My boss calls Immi on Thursday and they say that every teacher leaving a contract or finishing a contract must have this new letter rather than the LOR. So I posted this info on the forum here.
I take a teacher to Mokdong office today and that office suddenly knows nothing about it. Different worker. He asks me who served me the day before.
"I dunno mate...short guy, black hair, glasses, kinda Asian looking no brains coz he works here!"
I call Uijeongbu Office to ask them to explain to this officer at Mokdong what I had to do the previous day. That Uijeongbu officer and his manager had no idea what we were talking about. Different guy again.
All Immigration Officers are bl dy stupid and should popsicled!
Many of the people in my industry are Rsehooles but at least they are consistent in this.
I challenge anyone in this country to find any resemblence of consistency with these idiot officials or any policy (that assists the waeguks) being actually enforced regularly.
They know how to keep that transcript fiasco running smoothly...but anything that makes life a little easier they "Koreanify" it!
To the Korean Immigration officers and offices and possibly all Immigration officials around the world..give your self a pat on the back for a job well done! |

haha i have a funny story about immigration officers at the airport...2 years ago on a long weekend i went to china and obviously went through all the proper channels leaving and arriving back at incheon airport...two weeks later i get a phone call...it's this guy...i had no idea who it was, but he wanted to get together for a date or for a private english lesson. i was like, who IS this? he said, you know me, i met you at incheon airport a few weeks ago and you gave me your phone number... i was pretty baffled for a few minutes, i mean, ok i was hungover but i wasn't DRUNK at the airport, who did i give my phone number to?
then the guy helped to clear up the mystery for me...he explained that he was actually the immigration officer whose booth i went through on my way to china...i was like, dude, DUUHHH of course i gave you my number, it's required on my departure card!! i didn't know you were going to use it later to privately solicite tutoring (which is ironically illegal, well, the ironic part being that he is supposed to be an enforcer of the law)...
anyway i'm sure i don't need to point out the irony or idiocy of it all... |
