I realize this probably describes a whole bunch of folks in Itaewon but I am sure you would remember this guy if you've ever seen him...
I was showing a friend who is new to Seoul the best (and worst) places in Itaewon. We stopped by a well known dive on Hooker Hill. We sat outside and were approached by this strange caucasion dude who seemed like an old Korean drunkard except that he didn't even look mixed. He seemed to speak Korean well and even had the mannerisms of a Korean. He said he was mixed American-Korean but seemed more like Russian. He got really confrontational with us (my friend is American) after we had shared some of our soju with him.
We saw him later in another bar, where he started a fight and tried to throw a chair. A bunch of Korean guys tossed him out.
Does anyone know his story? He was an older fellow and looked kind of transient. I am curious to hear from others who have had run ins with him. He looks like he's been here for ages. |

That reminds me of a guy whom I came in contact with while waiting for a bus here (in Bundang) 2 years ago.
The guy looked Caucasian, but beckoned me in Korean. It didn't take me long to figure out that he was completely smashed (this was in the early afternoon, by the way). He asked to shake my hand, to which I oblidged, then proceeded to squeeze it with a vise-like grip while speaking in slurred-yet-fluent Korean.
He appeared homeless: his clothes were filthy, and he smelled to high heaven. He also had a cast on one leg and a pair of crutches.
But he was younger than the dude you described. This guy was probably between 25 and 35 years old. Still, your post reminded me of him.
Maybe he's the son of the guy you mentioned.
