Hi all

Planning a trip to Jeju in July and wondering if anyone can help me out. I am hoping to go for 4 or 5 days during exams. I know there are various packages which my work out cheaper but don't want to feel too restricted???? What have people found?

So I want to get a sense of what others have done and what are must sees etc. Also what about the ferry/flying?

I am debating about renting a car but I think it will be a little expensive as I will be going alone. Was the bus accessible? Also what about accomodation that is reasonable but decent?

Thinking of heading to Udo and staying there one nights also.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest flying unless you live in jeollanamdo.

I rented a pedal bike and saw what I hoped to in 7 days, I went around the entire island plus took a bus to and climb Hallasan,

Things I liked on the island were Sangumburi crater, really a cool site to see a secondary volcano from hallasan.

Manjungul is one of the best sites, its a lava tube, aparently so the koreans say the longest of its kind that is known to man.

Seongsan (sp????) its a crater on the eastern coast of the island well worth a visit, some great photo opps on the top and along the way.

About three or four waterfalls along the southern coast around Seogwipo are worth seeing but they are not that impressive to be honest.

The rocks on the south coast are impressive, can't remember the name of the place but they jut out of the sea vertically.

There were some more caves around Hallim don't remember the name but not as impressive as Monjungal.

I tried to get to the top of Hallasan but halfway up in the pouring rain a park guy came to us and said "closed, turn around"

Beaches are there but they are generally not that impressive, the water is much cleaner than on the pennisnula though.

I preferred Seogwipo over jeju si, it just seemed more friendly and more fun.

I think the rocks you are referring to are "ju-sang-jeol-li", near Jungmoon.

I'm guessing those caves might be ones you saw at Hallim Park, which is worth a visit as well (for nearly everything BUT the caves).

Don't forget Jeju Loveland!

Depends on what you want to do, but the buses are really good. They travel throughout the island. Really reasonable as well. My wife and I would rent a motor scooter and that took us throughout the island. Lots of fun as well.

You can stay overnight at Udo. Haven't been, but I have heard it is beautiful. Easy to find. Just have to get there before 5 pm (I think) if you want to catch the last ferry.

Some of the things I really enjoyed,
-Hiked mt Hallasan,
-Spear fished at many of the beaches,
-Played b-ball with the locals at the courts near the beach in Jeju city,
-Surfed on the southside of the island,
-Hiked a lot of other beautiful areas.

i hope you have a great time!

Thanks for all of the info on Jeju. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for accomodation? Did you find something when you got there or booked ahead? If so, what is a good web site? Looking for something clean but fairly cheap as I am going for 5 nights. Also planning on visiting Udo and/or Marado. Has anyone else been there?

I biked around the island as well. For accomodation, I would just bike around until I got tired and then keep my eyes open for a minbak or yeogwan. No need to book ahead I think.
