I've read the content about living in Jeju in general, and I appreciate the information/opinions on the site about Jeju.
My question is this: Where specifically in Jeju would you consider the best place to live? I'm looking at two opportunities...one in Jeju City and the other in Seogwipo.
Jeju City has the benefit of a larger population, with accompanying diversions...more restaurants and retail, casinos, cultural centers, golf and a baseball team. It also has the airport and ferry facilities.
Seogwipo is about half the size in terms of population, but appears to be a nice place. From pictures, it seems to be particularly scenic and planned around the waterfront in a linear way...meaning you aren't likely to live very far from the water no matter what (I find that appealing). They have a world-class stadium and a K-League team.
I'm sure that there are other nice places in Jeju to live. These just happen to be the two of my current focus.
I'm interested in having access to transportation options, including buses. I'd enjoy decent beach access. The Hallasan National Park seems to be a similar distance between the two. I know Jeju isn't a large place in general, and that I could likely get around to anywhere without too much trouble.
I suppose I'd be interested in hearing where you would ideally set up shop, given the choice. Thanks! |

| I've been told that windsurfing is available around Jeju City. Several resorts are able to arrange it for you if you contact them. |

Go to the east side of the island. You can rent windsurfers for 50000 won a day. I don't know how much it is for lessons, but there is a sailing club. Maybe you can hook up with them. I've included a map of Jeju. It's right where you can see the umbrella on the map. Gorgeous spot. You can surf on the other side of the harbor.

Shin Yang Beach
OP, you have a pretty good understanding of the island. The thing with the island is that you are only about an hour away from any spot, so it's pretty easy to access. I personally like the southern side of the Island, because there were more outdoor things to do. Surfing, fishing, hiking and so on. However, the Northern side has more of the foreigner activity.
PM me if you want more info. |
