The whole Korean love affair with noise combined to this Red Devil extremism is driving me crazy. It's bad enough that every Monday morning at my elementary school the loudspeakers blare the announcements at full throttle, both inside and outside the school. Now they've added the Korean Re Devils noise to the mayhem. They've just played the Silpung Korea song three times in a row at full level, followed by inexplicably loud talking/yelling into the microphone.
What's with Korea's obsession with noise? Even the fans at the sports games with their unmelodic and aggressive chants accompanied by loud percussion instruments.
I hate second-hand noise of any sort, andi this soccer noise is just too much. Even yesterday at the movies I had to endure Taehanmingook chants in the previews etc. before the movie.
I hope they go home tomorrow if, for no other reasaon, to get a respite from the obnoxious noise. |

You are in for an entire month of it.. Get used to it.
Since ya can't beat' em, join 'em!
Have fun with it. Koreans love this season, as long as it lasts,
and it doesn't promise to last long this year. You may get off lightly. |

Go red satanic persons!
I am down with Corea going all the way to the finals. All that free time off from work is good with me. |

| I'm with ya, OP. I like Korea, but the noise is barmy. The World Cup doesn't make a blind bit of difference if you ask me, what with loud speakers used by guys selling fruit, traffic noise, car horns beeping for so long and so unnecessarily, new things constantly being built, chainsaw-sounding motorbikes (the sound reverberating on all the tall buildings), the buses are loud and run til 2am. I'm in Seoul and can't sleep without earplugs. |

| Last Friday my students were razzing me about the Korean team being better than the Australian team (all in good fun), so I started chanting TO-GO! TO-GO! TO-GO! To which they all started chanting JA-PAN! JA-PAN! JA-PAN! (Japan being Australia's first opponent). At that point I noticed the school principal glaring at me through the window. I guess having kids chant JA-PAN JA-PAN JA-PAN isn't exactly part of the national curriculum. |

| I wonder how many Korean soccer players are enjoying German food??? hahaha!!! I'd like to see how much ramyon they had to take with them. I guess the US players have been busy looking for the nearest Burger joint. Americans and Koreans: so similar when they travel. GEEZ!!! I like food from all over the world!!! |

German food? Where? McDonald's is the official food sponsor for the world cup and budweiser is the official beer sponsor. If anyone is upset with the food and beer selection it would be the Germans. |

| I would say the world cup is one situation where its great to make a lot of noise. I agree in general Koreans have a higher tolerance for noise. What gets me everytime is being a pc bang ( thankfully doesnt happen anymore ) with two different pop songs on and the noise from three different pc games, all at full tilt. All the while, every station is set up with phones to plug into the speakers. But no, the Koreans whould rather listen to this cacophony instead. Perhaps they find it stimulating. |

Reminded me of something. Feel free to move or.. ignore.
My first month in Korea I saw a hagwon flyer ad showing a strapping young
white guy in a tie with a group of little ones.
On the board were the words, "cacophony," and "evisceration."
Wish I had saved a copy. I really just didn't get it at the time. |
