Hi there,

I am in Korea now for a couple of months now and am interested in doing a Master's course in some aspect of ESL at some time. I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of an online/distance one versus one in the actual country.

At some stage I would like to teach at university level either here in Korea or elsewhere (Eastern Europe, Middle East). From a financial point of view the online one is better insofar as I could work (I presume) while doing it.

By how much do you think is a non-traditional master's devalued by the fact that it's online?

If anyone has any opinion I would appreciate it. Smile

R.

Knock out the on-line degree while you bank coin. They are good enough to garnish you jobs anywhere the MA is mandatory in Korea. In the long run, should you discover that they are not readily accepted elsewhere, you can always transfer the credit and knock out another related MA on-site somewhere else if need be.

I've heard people hashing this out, and some 'struggle with the decision' for years, weighing the benefits and drawbacks of different programs. Just get it on and get it done. You'll be glad you did, and those same people will still be talking about it.
