I'm not a soccer fan, but am wondering....
Why is the world cup only every 4 years? If the (rest of) the world goes so crazy over it every 4, I'm sure they could sustain that energy and have it every 2 years...
What am I missing? It seems a lot of coin could be made if it were held more often. Why isn't it? Just tradition? |

Because the reason it is so special is because its not every year or every 2 years. It makes it a rare thing. Also, there are other big competitions besides the World Cup, for example the European championship, various club competition. The schedule is cramped enough as it is now. |

| Why the inverted commas in the thread title, BWJD? Football is very clearly played overwhelmingly with the foot, the only game of this name in the world to do so. We can argue about American Football vs Soccer all day and get nowhere because it's obviously a matter of preference and culture, but one thing we should all be able to agree on is that 'Football' is the rightful, logical name of what we call 'Soccer' and American Football really should be called something else. The foot barely touches the ball in 'Football'. The name issue is one amongst many reasons why it's an absolute shower of *beep* in my opinion. And they wear silly padded clothes and are all called Brad. |
