I recently started a job with ILS.They fired me after 4 days, then asked me to repay the airfare and would give a release letter.Fortunately my recruiter came to my aid, letting me stay with him and paid for the ticket and helped me find another job.My recruiter paid for the unused portion of the ticket and they gave me a release letter.
My recruiter contacted the labour board but they were not interested. Now ILs want me to go with them to Immigration and get my visa cancelled. The new school where I will be working has already lodged my papers for another visa and I imagine I'll go to Osaka next week.
Am I obliged to go with ILS to Immigration to cancel my initial visa? Wouldn't immigration automatically cancel it when they received my new visa application? Some advice is appreciated. Thanks

They didn't like the fact that I'd spent a few months in another ILS franchise last year,(was listed in my cv) and they decided I was too old.(52) They knew my age when rhey offered me the job.

that sucks that they can get away with sh$t like that.
but on the other side of that, i dont think they can hold you responsible for any monies paid. You didnt f^%$ up so i think labor might support you if you complained that they wre abusing you.

Hmm, last I knew you couldn't get a new visa without cancelling the old one. But the release letter should take care of that. So I'm not sure why they'd still want you to go cancel the visa with them. Do they know that you have another job already? Your new school or recruiter should check on this with Immigration though.

Also, check your contract. Did you have something about 30 days notice in your contract? Repaying airfare in any event, or just if you quit?
