Let's see... beheading, bombing civilian targets, assassinating religious leaders, kidnaping. Sounds like a terrorist to me. Or at least a really fucking evil guy. Your pick. Good riddance. |

i say good . But I also give a thumbs down to all who celebrate any death. It is with this same glee that violence erupts, same fuse.
I feel just sad. Also sad to see the Iraqi PM say it was a "good day" . Never a good day when anyone dies, just sad and that is the end of the story. Time to stop the killing.
Even and every more pathetic was the CNN report I just watched. Saying many are celebrating in the streets of Iraq and then showing 4 or 5 , well dressed, over weight guys dancing with machine guns. Others looked on like it was freak show and these guys weren't too convincing. Just a little shaking up and down.........what a sad news network. Pathetic.Cheerleading and not giving the news.....but then again, just wait for Georgie Porgie's cheerleading over this death. ....

The wise lament neither for the living nor for the dead (which explains why some bozos are saddened by this fanatical cutthroat killer's death...)
If you want to stop the cycle of violence, help close down slaughterhouses...In the political arena, those who live by the sword die by the sword (or bombing raids...) |

No. The best goal was to put him handcuffs, get every bit of info from him possible, but him on trial in front of the world. The goal of terrorism is to negate the rule of law, and that goal is very quickly being acheived by the Bush Administration in efforts that are both misguided and machiavellian - focusing the efforts on just offing the guy adds to that, and aids the forces of darkness. Fact is, it's entirely possible they even helped him acheve martyr status among so very many in that part of the world.
The best way to fight terrorism is to show the world that fanatical belief in fringe theology and/or some hell-bent desire to right injustices personally felt doesn't work, because the rest of us can just hold that up to a bright light and show it for what it is. THAT is what will dissuade others from following the same path.
As it is, there are hundreds and perhaps thousands of muslims around the world who will believe this man made a great personal sacrifice, when in fact he was the most ego-driven megalomanic since Hitler and Pol Pot.
Saddam Hussain is sitting in a jail cell now, and will until they execute him or he dies of natural causes. He is not a cause celebre in the Islamic world, and I think very little of the insurgency is coming from people who loved him very much when he was in power, though his similar-sized ego no doubt made him think that would happen, that he would be a centerpiece of a rallying-cry against Western Imperialism in the Middle East, or somesuch similar poppycock.
The dying will continue, without Zarqawi. His jailing and public repudiation would have been a better solution than the possibility that his death will inspire others to join the suicide-bomber corps. |

| We were lucky enough to get him at all. Killing him, I'm sure, was a lot less difficult than capturing him alive would have been. There certainly are many would-be suicide bombers among Muslim fanatics, and it may be necessary to kill many (or ideally all) of them all before they get the opportunity to carry out their deadly missions... |
