I subscribe.
6 months=114,000.
[email protected] or 02-1577-0510
Just set up the delivery and then send them a bank transfer:
JongAng Ilbo, Hana Bank, 194-810320-19305
Depending on where you live, they may not be able to do same day delivery. I live in Bundang and it's no problem. |

Thanks, Flotsam.
That's the thing that is making me hesitate a little - if I don't get the paper on the same day, then what's the point in subscribing it? I might as well read it online....... |

| I used to subscribe from Bundang. Each edition was waiting on my doorstep first thing in the morning, every morning without fail. |

I've subscribed in the past at the rate of about 19,000 a month. The paper is a day behind, but I live out in the country near Jochiwon. It's a professional paper, mercifully free of the spelling errors and hack journalism of the local English papers.
The problem I've had is that it's too much to read! It comes bundled with part of a local paper, and I have trouble keeping up with it in my work schedule. I wish they had an every-other-day option...

Thanks for the replies, folks.
Moldy, you have confirmed my suspicion about it being a day later than the published date.
I am a bit annoyed about that because by the time things go to print, it's already yesterday's news and if I have to wait for yet another for it, there isn't much of a point in getting it, is there? |

Well, it's a day late, but better than nothing-- and isn't some internet news half a day late if it was written during daytime hours across the globe!-- and isn't much of a weekly magazine days old!-- and remember that the English papers here in Korea translate some stories printed the previous day... anyway, I don't mind. As I said, sometimes it takes me days anyway to catch up on my pile of papers...

Just a note for those of you who speak Korean or who have Korean partners/spouses...
My wife recently discovered that if you subscribe to the Korean edition of the Joong-Ang Ilbo then you can get a big discount. In fact, I think if you get the IHT, you can get the Joong-Ang Ilbo for free.
Just ring up the number in the paper and they'll fill you in. |

Yes, a portion of the Ilbo is included free with the Herald-Tribune every day.

I subscribe. It's fun.
Now, any readers out there see this morning's edition, page 2, centre, photo of two crying K-girl Red Devils (reacting to K-team's 3-0 drubbing by Ghana)?
I checked Joongang's online edition and couldn't find it. Found the related story (by Brian Lee), but not that photo. Also checked the NEWSIS site, nothing there either. I want a full-colour of that photo, and I want it splashed on the Ghana 3, Korea 0 thread. If you see that photo, you'll know why. |

I saw it...and I hate to say it, but the only emotion I could muster at first sight and then after reflection was: pathetic.
Well, just now while writing this it developed into: distressing. |
