Just got my schedule and I'm very curious whether I'm getting a decent deal.

4 50 minute classes- Writing, Reading, Speaking, Grammar, mostly uni students

3 1 hour classes- 1 middle school, 1 high school
and
MTWT -2 1.5 hour conversation classes- 1/2 adult 1/2 uni students

10 or 20 minute breaks between each class,
1 hour each for lunch and dinner

3.8 mil for the month (includes 2.2 salary-standard newbie contract)

I'll basically be working from 845a to 930p , from 7/25-8/25
Is that fairly normal for the hagwon industry.
I don't bicth much but I on the evening of 8/25 I plan to end the evening face down somewhere. Hopefully I'm at least getting paid well.

Let her rip
Thanks

Personally, I'd want more money. I'll do about 120 hours extra during July and that's worth 2.4 in the hand plus a weekend Jeju. Look at your overtime rate and multiply it out. Smile

isht, miscalculated, bases on 20000/hr overtime it only works out to around 3.6. Everything past the first 6 teaching hours is OT so 4 hours 4 days a week and an extra hour one day a week.

well....hakwons, as we all know, care a lot about how well their teachers perform, and thus always make sure that teachers are well rested and mentally acute for each and every class they teach so that every student gets the best possible education possible. very rarely do hakwons sacrifice education in order to make more money. if, by the end of the day you are sleeping on your desk and the kids are doing word searches or drawing a picture of their familes (two classic time wasters), surely they will see that they need to lessen the load. however, from my experience, not even the boss peeks in the windows near the end of the day. my advice - plan to budget your energy levels and get some ammo ready - as in puzzlemaker.com
