Most of the kids were looking the worse for wear today due to the soccer!

Dead? I know more than a few of my students are passionate about their country's football prospects but, I seriously doubt any would go as far as offing themselves over it. Besides, Korea is still in it...

No matter what was going on on tv, my parents would never. ever. let me either a). stay up all night to watch tv, or b). get up at some ungodly hour to watch tv. That said, I didn't grow up here, and my parents are not rabid sports fans.

If it carries onto the second round look for even more tired and frustrated students during exam week.

My kids were absolutely bonkers today!!!!! They were either sugared up to the eyeballs and really hyper or drooling on their desks.

But, I am pleased I did get a bit of work out of them.


My parents wouldn't have let me stay up that late to watch a footie match either. But, it is only once ever four years

I had my grade 3 and grade 1 MS students today and they were fine. Well, my grade ones got immunised today and didn't look too happy about having to line up for that, but otherwise they were fine - I didn't have to wake up any more than I usually do.

I knew they would be wasted today, so with most of my classes I did this lesson where I took them outside and they practiced directional vocabulary and phrases by urging a member of their team to find a water gun while blindfolded.(A game I read about here on Dave's once) The result of this game that has always been a success and never before caused stress: one broken water gun; one punched, bawling girl; one pissed off teacher in the room next to mine due to the volume level of one of my classes as we walked by; and one sweaty and frustrated flotsam.

I wish they were dead. (Read that any which way you want--I haven't yet decided how I mean it.

Morning classes they were as my father liked to call my brothers...as reckless as red-a$$ed baboons. Sugared up, caffiened up, and bouncing off the walls. It was like watching monkeys on crack. Cute though and reasonably managable.

AFTERNOON: CRASH...tiny puddles of students sloshing in and out of class. Trying hard not to fall asleep cuz that don't fly in english class. I almost felt sorry for them except I was up too and I am a damn sight older than they are and I have to be on my feet.

So all in all it was fun but glad the next game is on Saturday morning and they can act like nutballs, stay up all night and then crash all day sunday!

I found the littlest ones were the most tired. I got up for the game this morning, about 9 minutes into it, when through my open windows came shrieking and wailing (france had just scored). Just cause I was curious, i asked every class to show hands if they got up. 60-some students, only three didnt. Two boys, brothers, were a little bent that their father kicked their butts out of bed to watch the game.

Puwhahahahah-h-h-h! Exams are over! I wasn't even at school today!

My kindergartners seemed no worse than usual. The afternoon kids, though, were grumpy and a few of them actually fell asleep in class. I've been indifferent to Korea's World Cup prospects all this time, but frankly now I'm kind of hoping they're out as quickly as possible just so I don't have to deal with this any more...
