How much can you drink?
I can drink a bottle of Chivas Regal in a sitting. Am I drunk? Of course. But I can still make it up the stairs!
How 'bout you? |

Shouldnt the question be "How much DO you drink?"? Its not usually a good idea to find out exactly how much you CAN drink... |

Always trying to beat an American, aren't you, my little limey friend.
Well, bring the Bells.
I can drown you with that, too. |

Maybe it's because I was out in the sun too long today, but that made me laugh out loud.

When you grow up with a father who - through a lifetime of practice - can consume four forty-pounders (160 fl. oz) of whiskey by himself in a three day nonstop binge, and still walk around with enough control of his faculities that a visiting friend doesn't notice that he's drunk at first, then...
you give up any pretense of becoming "better" at it, short of seriously risking one's health. |

Well, I'm certainly not a lightweight.
My problem is that I drink too quickly. I'm the ultimate balli-balli person. I eat fast, I drink fast, I walk fast, I'm psychotically impatient! |

I've found nothing makes Koreans act more impressed than saying "I don't know." They'll assume you have so much power you don't even know your own limits. |

I know my limit and it's a good deal further than I usually take myself. I'm too busy babysitting dumb foreigners most of the time. |

I drank a bottle of Chivas Regal a couple of times before giving up on it. Not even a buzz. I think maybe I was drinking too much in those days.. a bottle of vodka a day? Kind of a lot. What can I say, I had the small town blues.
But when it comes to Jack Daniels, well.. two weeks ago I had about, oh, 8 or 10 shots of JD, a few beers and a few shots of soju and I was way too drunk. I think Flotsam and Zyzyfer remember how well that night ended. |

I definitely let down the Scottish side of my ancestry last night at Woodstock. Three drinks (rum&coke, Long Island Iced Tea, and some huge concoction of gin, whiskey, peach liqueur, grenadine and orange juice) and 22,000 won later, I was comfortably drunk and not inclined to continue. A lingering hung-overish feeling today too. It must be true what they say about mixed drinks. On a normal night, I can slog through 7 or 8 drinks before I feel it's time to stop.
There are lots of things that help me stop drinking: the high price of drinks that aren't soju or beer, lousy service at certain bars, the sugar/calorific nature of cocktails, a desire to hang on to some dignity, etc. I also go a bit cross-eyed after 7 or 8 drinks. In order to watch TV, I have to cover one eye.
I started drinking relatively late in life, and so I don't consider Sunday "hangover day" and I am still embarrassed and grossed-out when I occasionally over-do it.
So, how much can I drink? Answer: ENOUGH. |

who the hell knows? you go out, at some point you hear yourself say "*beep* it" to no one in particular, and the next morning you wake up smelling like rat feces with 2 dollars in your pocket and you can't find your car. i know i've blacked out more times than i want to admit. maybe two 5ths in a night or so. |
