I have been there its a nice island, lots to do and see. Its about a three or four hour drive south of BGK and then a short ferry ride over to the island.
I thought the best place to stay was lonely beach, its a great beach and they have huts you can rent for very cheap, bring a sleeping net for the bugs. Or you can also stay at the many hotels that are close to lonely beach it you want to spend more money and have more luxury.
Rent a scooter and cruise the island, good fun but be carefull it can be dangerous. |

For me it was a fairly ordinary island- okay I am from Australia and we're spoilt for beaches/ islands. I went there last year and stayed on a beach a few kms before Lonely Beach- for the life of me I can't remember the name. The beach where we stayed had cheap yet sublime food but I wouldn't recommend going there now in the wet. The ocean was a murky grey/brown everyday- all of the beaches on the W coast were suffering from serious erosion because of the waves/wind. Also there is/was a lot of construction going on- at low tide you had to cross streams of sewerage!! At our beach there was a serious sand fly infestation. They are small enough to pass through fly screens and even though we slept under a fan cranked up full bore we were eaten alive. The island itself is quite pretty but if you are going there for water activties forget about it. |
