What do you do if 5 out of 24 students show up to an extra-curricular class? Do you teach the 5 who come? Call the class off? How long do you wait before if you do?

I hate starting a lesson and having kids filter in 10 to 30 minutes late. And if I plan to teach someting to the class, it messes with the rhythm of the class when so many are absent. Perhaps playing a game or have them do homework or something...

They are a combined middle school 1 and 2 class who have this extra class tacked onto an already over filled schedule. Any ideas?

Yep, I 'teach.'

Has happened to me twice (two separate classes); both times I got out Junior Monopoly and taught them how to play.

I cannot be bothered rescheduling classes just because the majority of students do not bother to turn up. I get paid extra for the classes, so it's not my loss to play Monopoly on days like that. It is annoying though, when you've already prepared and photocopied...

Teach the five that come so you get through your term of extra classes and get paid quicker.

If it drags then tests then holidays can get in the way of you and your dosh.
