Man what the hell are these things and where do they come from?

The're not mosquitos, they're not flies... They just started appearing last Friday or Saturday. I've yet to see more than two at a time, but when I kill one, another one instantly appears. I don't open my window and my apartment is clean. Maybe they're coming from one of the drains?

It's starting to really bother me. Today I've been awake for an hour and already killed seven of them. On Sunday, I killed around twenty.

Confused

Take out your trash. They're probably fruit flies.

I don't have any fruit. They might be fruit flies, but they also aren't hovering around my trash can, which has a tight lid on it.

But let's imagine I had a lot of fruit lying about and flies were hovering over it. Where do these flies come from? I need to try to get to the source.

They don't just eat fruit. Anything that's sweet will do.

Yeah I should eat fruit, I know. It's pretty uncommon for me, as I don't like sweets and fruit is so sugary. With the bad quality and high prices around here, I have all the excuses in the world for justifying not eating it. Haha.

So, today there are no flies, and last night I only killed two.

I hope it stays this way. I was talking to my friend about it last night and he said he gets silverfish and spiders, so then I thought wow, there's no room for me to complain. I'll take fruit flies over SILVERFISH any day!

Btw, I didn't take out my trash since the last post, which is covered with a lid and has no sweet stuff. The flies don't swarm around the can, anyway, and I've even seen (and killed) them in the shower. I'm really confused about their origin and purpose.

I think I know what you're talking about - I have them too. But I can't really complain. The insects here are pitiful compared to back home.

Seconded: fruit flies. If I have any bananas in my room, I get them nonstop. As soon as my bananas are finished, they disappear. I think I've swallowed a couple - no particular taste.

they are not fruit flies. i think what the OP is talking about are larger and have more noticeable wings. they look like little flies when they are in flight, but when still, they look like little, round, black bugs.

mine usually appear in my bathroom first, near the ceiling...or at least they congrgate there.

i want to know what they are too.

maybe they're coming up through your drain?. By a bath mat and seal up your drain when your not using it.

They have attacked me three times this week. I believe they go for guys with a particuarly musky scent........

Not fruit flies! The flying things that attack me are big and tough!

Actually, they're really small. I did, however, notice (kill) two the other day that were rather large and as the eye described. One of them was the only critter so far to have actually landed on me.

Been home a little over an hour so far tonight and haven't seen any yet. Earlier today I saw two. Not bad.

I've got some too...

Luckily, I'm a washed-up 80s glam rock star, so I have lots of cans of hair spray handy. So, I spray my spray and light my lighter and then I got a flying burning blighter. Aight? Thats my solution. That and being more clean than you already are.

Either that or insure the joint then burn it to the ground then grab your insurance money and have a whiparound and take a nice new flat and get a cute-ass cat. And you'll be golden buddy.

Golden.

New flat. It's what its AT.

You are delusional, and so I choose to not believe your story about great big bugs flying in your apart-uh. God, really, it's as believable as, say, a story about me working for free for the N.I.S. against a violent Nigerian gang banked by the Nigerian Embassy.

Cheers!

Sounds like black gnats....cover/plug all the drains (esp. floor) in the bathroom.
