South Korea Is China's 3rd Best Friend
The Chinese research center surveyed 3,917 Chinese people above the age of 15 living in 14 cities across mainland China last year... Russia was the most popular at 39.6 percent and North Korea came in second at 25.0 percent.... After South Korea, France (20 percent), Singapore (19.3) and Australia (11.7) were the most favored by the Chinese people....The Chinese chose the U.S. and Japan as the most threatening countries followed by India, Russia and North Korea.

Bit of a surprise. But it is the nearest European/Western country in terms of outside culture appeal. France was fourth too. But, ah, I have no idea.

Communists liking Communists... no surprise there... specially with the Chinese government still saying and writing in school textbooks that most of the Korean peninsula is part of China in terms of history, despite Koreans fervent denial.
No surprise. In many ways a Chinese city I hear. Never wanted to go from all accounts a shopping destination.

Three of the world's biggest democracies. China is trying to claim part of India, so that's a much hyped dispute I hear. |

Punctuation can be your friend if you deign.
There is a story that Gertrude Stein and Ernest Hemingway debated whether he needed a comma in a particular sentence. The debate went on in Paris cafes, in Gertrude's salon and by post card. Hemingway reportedly gave in and agreed with her to put one in. Then by post card, he told her it was out.

So, North Korea is their second best friend, but also the fifth most threatening? Hmmmm, is that sorta like becoming good friends with a gang member? |
