I don't want to sound like a scenester, but I hear that this place is owned by a complete tool. I didn't go there very often, I always thought it reeked like sewage. It's off the main road in Itaewon in a basement on the right as you walk up the alley towards Pattaya restaurant, the 3 Alley, and Scrooge. Kind of a rave-ish crowd.

Last Sunday, about 4 am there was a fight between the owner, his Korean buddies and a bunch of western guys, some of whom had Korean girlfriends. Apparently, the Koreans were hassling some Korean girl for having a foreign boyfriend. The owner, who apparently has dreadlocks past his shoulders, roundhouse kicked the Korean girl in the chest twice. A huge rumble broke out and the foreigners lost. One of them got kicked in the jaw as he was on the ground, maybe broke it. Another Korean guy smashed a beer bottle and stabbed a foreign guy in the back with the broken shards of glass. Police attended and did their usual professional job.

I don't know nationalities, names or definite reasons but it seems like the owner is liable to beat you and your girlfriend up if he doesn't like you.

Take it for what it's worth.

In all seriousness, where did u hear this? When did u hear this? Today? Please don't just say a friend of a friend, but please be a bit more specific - ie. my friend was actually there, I know the bar owner next door, etc.

I've been a Nana customer on occasion and would like to know if such a bad thing really went down.

Why is this so believable?
Ajjosshis attack and kick girl, then kick foreign guys while on the ground.
Police charge foreigners with assault, and they must pay millions to the Koreans.

The allowed level of violence to women in this country is horrendous.
I hope the guys involved report this as far and wide as possible to shame Korea..this, -and the million other casual incidents of Korean men attacking women that are considered normal here.

I find it quite hard to believe....I used to hang there a lot one and two years ago, was very friendly with the owner and his wife, both very kind and gentle people. Maybe something else was going on, like he and his wife broke up and that's who he kicked? I just don't think so.

Maybe it's a story started by that guy in the post a while back about the missing girl : he left his girlfriend at NaNa and she ended up shaggin some other bloke for a few nights, apparently she had met him at NaNa cuz there was a pic of her and the new shag, and the NaNa owner was in it.
Maybe he was a chump
cuz he got the dump
he lost his glory
and made up a story
to bring NaNa down
cuz it made him look like a clown

Anyway, I'm gonna drop by and scoop it out, and if I hear anything from my old friend there I'll post it up here.....

Kicking a woman twice in the chest should result in a lengthy jail term.

Its no surprise to me that surveys show:

30% of korean women suffer violence from men (reported stats only).
Korean women are victimised 3X more than American women.

None of this is bullshit. One of my best friends was there and tried to break up the fighting. No one I know seems to know how it all broke out but appears that the owner has been trying to make his bar more of a nationalistic scenester kind of place that welcomes his Korean scooter buddy thugs who don't exactly appreciate Korean girls being with foreign boyfriends.

I have hung out there quite a bit and and even have a link (until today) to the bar's homepage on one of my homepages, so I have no reason to try and discredit the place. I've always liked the ambiance there.

The guy who had his jaw broken was an innocent bystander according to my friend. He was standing alone drinking a beer and was blind-sided by one of the owner's heavy-set thug friends, simply because he was a foreigner. He was supposedly a small guy, completely non-threatening.

Not sure how the attackees are faring? How is "S" who got stabbed in the back with a broken bottle and his girlfriend? Okay I hope.

Excuse my ignorance, but just what is a 'scenester'?

Ya-ta Boy,
You're not the only one. Confused

A scenester is someone involved in a particular slice of subculture or "scene". These people often let the music they listen to, the section of town they live in, or their particular hobbies, determine the people they associate with, the clothes they wear and their overall attitude. A scenester is usually defined as someone who subscribes to a popular fad, or sub-culture in a manner that is fetishistic, possessive or obsessive nature concerning their particular "scene".

So it is a word, but both pyeongshin and his sock are using it incorrectly.

As for the fight boo friggin woo. It sounds like a crock a shite the way it has been described and even if it did happen this kind of crap happens in every town in every country with a lot higher frequency than Seoul.
