| Wow, Vancouver just got a heck of a lot better. I think Luongo is the best goalie in the world. |

Yep, they should be a pretty kick ass team next year...
All this crap and what do we here in Toronto ... "Leafs are interested in Giguere, Raycroft, Nabokov" ... Doesn't really instill any enthusiasm. |

Over-rated. Great move for Vancouver though (if they can sign him).. definitely a much needed upgrade. |

I think florida got the better deal, although I don't care for Bertuzzi he is a great player when he puts his mind to it, a change of scenery is going to re-ignite his career. Bryan Allen has already shown that he will be an effective rear guard in the league for many years to come. Alex Auld will be a number one goalie in Florida and he has great potential, for me he may be the steal of the trade. He showed great promise last year when he took over for Cloutier and he is a big, young kid with hockey smarts. As an official I saw him play for many years alongside Eric Staal when they played minor hockey in Thunder Bay, he is very good.
What did Vancouver get?? Luongo has yet to live up to the lofty potential that had the islanders pick him 4th overall. He has played 6 seasons in the nhl and has never played in the post season. He has never shown the consistancy that is needed to be a top notch goalie in the nhl. Granted he has not played on a very good team however his performance has certainly not been one of a "franchise player" as he was touted.
Plus signing Luongo is not going to be easy, he wants a long term deal worth big bucks. I think all this trade did was continue the goaltending controversy they had last year with Cloutier and Auld except this year it will be Cloutier and Luongo if they don't trade Cloutier.
Lukas Krajicek, 5 years as a pro and he has played more games in the ahl than the nhl. Touted as a defensman with great scoring skills but I doubt it if he cracks the lineup in vancouver.
Vancouver also got a 6th round selection in this years draft but the may not add up to much in the short or long term. |

Pavel Demitra to Minnesota
Alex Tanguay to Calgary for Jordan Leopold and picks
Patrick Stefan to Dallas
Andrew Raycroft to Toronto
St. Louis selects Erik Johnson with the first pick.
Pittsburgh selects Jordan Staal with the second.
Chicago selects Jonathon Toews with the third.

Bertuzzi is not as good in the new faster NHL. The Canucks should have traded him before last Christmas when his stock was still high.
Him being named to the Olympic Team was the biggest joke in Canadian hockey history. |
