There's a book by a Brit who did that in the early 80s--walked the length of Korea. He started on Jeju-do, took a boat to Mokpo, and walked to the border with North Korea. For the most part, he followed the route of Dutch sailors who were shipwrecked in Korea in the 1650s. It's an interesting read. I recommend it.
