Languages of the Final 8 teams:

2 Portugese
1 Spanish
1 French
1 Italian
1 German
1 English
1 Ukrainian

So 5 Romance languages, 2 Germanic languages, and 1 Slavic language. If only the Dutch had beat Portugal, we'd have 8 different native tongues.

Continentwise, it's a little unbalanced with 6 European teams (5 EU teams)and 2 South American teams.

The Ukraine is the only quarterfinalist that doesn't border at least one other quarterfinalist.

One colonial power / former colony pairing is still possible.

The semi-finals see the (remote) possibility of WW II axis nation versus axis nation and ally nation versus ally nation. Which would guarantee a axis versus ally finale.

England doesn't border another quarter finalist either.
