Man, what a movie.

I think I liked it.

It really should have gotten an x-rating for the violence. That is possibly the most violent movie I've ever seen.

But it was good.

NPR back home called it 'Jesus Chainsaw Massacre.'

Everyone knows it would have been a much better movie had Pauly Shore been given the leading role.

The worst part is when Jesus is getting scourged.

The whip imbeds itself in the flesh, and when the Roman yanks it, half the skin covering the ribs comes off.

When he's finally crucified, you can see that his ribs are actually exposed.

The thing that distrubed me the most--besides the entire movie--is when the Romans break the legs of the other two crucified men at the end of the film.

I'll never forget that movie.

Then again, I probably won't be able to sleep for two weeks.

I don't like snuff flicks.

It was well made though. Definitely cannot be classified as entertainment.

It definitely wasn't the feel good hit of the summer. That's for sure.

I'm one of those guys who likes to listen to conspiracy theories. One theory is that Jesus was taken off the cross before he died.

But I don't think anyone could survive that type of beating. The nicest thing they actually did to him in the movie was crucify him. It was the least painful, anyway.

I didn't like it and actually found it to be a quite forgettable movie.

I don't believe that for a second.

You can love it. You can hate it. You can find it disgusting.

I'm not sure how I feel. A combination of the three.

But it certainly isn't forgettable--unless of course you were hopped up on dope during the screening.

I don't think it's an accurate depiction of a true crucifixion (goes way beyond the bible I read) and the near total abscence of plot could definitely make it a forgettable movie. All you remember is the gore. That's all that has been discussed on this thread anyways.

Visually, it was very stunning, IMO. I give it three out of five stars.

I thought the Last Temptation of Christ was much better, as it was centered around the spiritual teachings that Christ supposedly served.

I'm not Christian myself, so I thought that Gibson manipulated Christ's apparent physical suffering as a way to shock the viewer. It was needlessly overdone - I left hating Mel Gibson even more.

Remember, that is only the director's vision.

Think what you like. Fact of the matter is I really cannot remember much at all about the film except that I didn't particularly like it. I haven't stored any scenes or details into my long term memory...Sorry.
And no I wasn't in any way altered.

I don't see why it is so hard to believe that I found this film forgettable? I don't think I loved it, hated it or found it disgusting. Is this the holy trinity for viewing this movie or something? I think there are more options than the three you give.

Mary Magadline (Monica Belluci) was well worth remembering.

Jesus is speaking Latin to Pilate. Who can possibly view the film as anything but the fictional concoction of a very mediocre mind from that point on?

I guess the idea is that Jesus miraculously knew how to speak all human languages without ever studying?

I'm just mad that no one asked me to play Satan.

Not accurate?

Come on, man. We aren't talking Henry Miller's Rosy Crucifixion.

We're talking about nailing a person to a piece of wood and letting him hang till he dies.

I think it's tough to go beyond that.
