|
|
I'm considering a public school position in Seoul for next year. The information I was sent specifies 14 days of vacation. I thought you get much more than that (i.e. winter break + summer break, etc.). Could someone who has experience doing this please give me some details regarding vacation time?
Also, how long is each of the 22 weekly classes?
Gracias. |

SMOE is 21 days vacation, but ends up being A LOT more. aside from this vacation time I think a lot of teachers get a month of so more, if not more.
in elementary school each class is 40 minutes long. I think it is a few minutes longer for middle school. |

22 teaching hours or less, anything over that is overtime pay.
21 vacation days (business days), plus bonuses for doing camps and re-signing for additional contracts. Some schools do let foreign teachers "stay home" when school is out and official vacation isn't being taken, but most schools stick with the contract and make the foreign teacher go to school even when there aren't Korean teachers or students there. It sounds stupid, but the foreign teachers are getting paid to be there. |

For length of normal classes ; Middle school is usually 45 minutes and High school is usually 50 minutes ...
But normally expected to be at school from 8:30-4:30 (or similar hours with adjustments for your school) ...
