I mean things like vegetrianism, yoga, meditation. Id call them nw age but that might be a wrong term. Semantic asid though, is it crap?
Vegetarians say that their diet is healthier and they are happier people. Read some of the threads on this board like the Boshingtang thread in the general forum or the "Wanna change your life ..." thread on this board. By far the angriest poster is a certain militant vegetarian. Ive come across many vegetarians and the majority were angry and militant. Is that supposed to appeal to me?
What about yoga? The biggest nut Ive ever met was a certain coworker who had serious mood swing issues. He was a hard core yoga practitioner.
I read an article about a foreigner who is teaching meditation in Seoul. It all sounded really nice and peaceful until I saw his email address. it was nukerage@_________.com. NUKERAGE? I wonder what that says about his subconscious. A lot of pent up rage. |

I've no time for any of it.
The worst of the worst is Feng Shui.
Yoga joke: A guy goes to a Yoga class every week, but his teacher doesn't like him, which always leaves him in a really difficult position. |

You are refering to self-dillusionment.
A lot of people suffer from that, especially those who tell you how you have to live your life . |

I'd say a lot of New Age foo-foo seems like crap to me.
I'd say what you classify as New Age doesn't seem like New Age at all to me.
The Path is strewn with the corpses of fools.
Try Kundalini for six months and then try telling me it's crap. Tantra can yield even faster results, if you find competent instruction.
Namaste. |

People are moving from completely unscientific things (ie religion) to "quasi-scientific" things. It is just a form of evolution in my opinion. In the future, humans won't need all this weird stuff. But you never know, I could be wrong and we are all arranging our apartments so stuff faces a certain direction (which makes no sense when you think in terms outside of the Earth) in the future. Still, I think it is an improvement.
I must admit most vegetarians I meet are angry people. Just an observation. And most people into Yoga (seriously into it, not just for health) are quite wacko. Maybe I just have had bad luck with the people I have met. |

I wouldn't call yoga new age, it's not really a flaky thing. It would be extremely healthy to do, and I wish I had the discipline to do it. Meditation too, not flaky, and I wish I had the discipline. I wouldn't call vegetarianism new age either, but I'd never practice it as I don't think it's healthy, and I've never met a healthy looking vego...
Real new age stuff is flaky and crap though... |

What I notice is that the people who go in for all the new-age stuff like meditation etc are doing it for the same reasons. They are were extremely stressed people.
After they start whatever regimes they feel will help they tend to go around smiling and telling everybody they feel all "centered" but when you get to know them they are as stressed as ever.
None of it really works as it doesn't address what is wrong with your life in the first place.
Basically, the only thing from California that makes any sense to me is The Bobster!!! |

This could have something to do with the fact that he's randomly listed a few unrelated things he doesn't like, lumped them all together and labelled them "new age" so he can conveniently dismiss them as crap. |

Here are a few things I can't get behind, which I'd classify as New Age.
I do have faith in certain things that attract a lot of derision and disrespect, so I don't want to get disdainful here, however, when I am presented with the following, I have to ask: "How is that supposed to work?"
Crystals
Astrology
Feng Shui
