|

My travel agent assured me that I do not need a visa for China and now that I have looked online I find that I do need one. The problem is that my flight is for tommorow so I will obviously not have the time.
Does anyone know what happens if an American arrives in China without a visa? Can you get it issued at the airport if you pay a higher price? |

Unfortunately, I am 95% sure you are in trouble. What nationality are you? |

I agree, it looks that way. You can only get a visa on arrival in mainland China for emergency situations (eg. visiting critical patients, handling funeral affairs, people who are stranded because of natural disasters/force majeure). I'd say Tourism is probably not a good enough reason.
Usually at Incheon airport the ticket agent will check your passport for a valid Chinese visa. If there isn't one, they could refuse to board you.
This is only for mainland China. Americans don't need visas for Taiwan, Hong Kong or Macau.
The airline may let you change your destination, pay the difference and fly standby to somewhere else. |

Shame on you!!! You didn't find it out by looking online.

I told the travel agent that they need to answer questions about visas accuratelly and they agreed that they made a mistake. So they changed the date of my flight and arranged for my visa. No problems here -Beijing is pretty cool. |
